What This Year Taught Me About Growth, Boundaries, and Better Work
As this year winds down, I find myself reflecting less on what was accomplished and more on how it was accomplished.
This year reinforced something I see every day in my work.
Growth rarely comes from dramatic reinvention.
It comes from small, intentional shifts. From getting clearer. From responding with more awareness than reaction. From strengthening what is already there instead of trying to fix something that was never broken. That theme showed up everywhere.
On a personal level, the year was anchored by what matters most. Health, happiness, and time with the people closest to me shaped the rhythm of life. Welcoming another grandchild and spending unhurried time with the youngest (and inarguably cutest) members of our family were true highlights. Watching little ones grow and change in real time is a powerful reminder of how quickly seasons move and how important presence really is.
Time together at home, on the farms, and on the road for visits, errands, sports, and theatre added texture to the year. Enjoyable fulfilling moments of connection.
Professionally, the business settled into a steady and satisfying cadence. Working alongside thoughtful clients, facilitating meaningful conversations, and helping teams build clarity and trust continues to be work I’m proud of. I stretched into new skills along the way too. Apparently, website development is not the punishment I once assumed it would be. Growth sneaks up on you like that.
What felt especially important this year was protecting space. Space for rest. Space for thinking. Space for life outside of work. That balance didn’t happen by accident. It came from clearer boundaries, better decisions, and a stronger sense of what is worth my energy.
As I look ahead, I’m not chasing “more” for the sake of more. I’m focused on deeper. Deeper connections. Deeper impact. More meaningful work with people who value honesty, accountability, and practical tools that work in real life.
This year was about refinement. About trusting what I know. About choosing deliberately.
Grateful for what was. Hopeful about what’s coming. Ready for the next chapter.
Happy New Year.
