When Learning Sticks: Reflections on a Recent DiSC Conference Session
One of the things I enjoy most about my work is helping people better understand themselves and the people they work with every day. Whether it's a frontline supervisor, a senior leader, or a conference attendee meeting fellow professionals, stronger communication starts with greater self-awareness.
Recently, I had the opportunity to facilitate a DiSC learning session at a professional conference. As with all my engagements, the focus wasn't simply on sharing information.
The goal was to create a learning experience that participants could immediately apply in their workplaces.
A comment from the client captured exactly what I hope to achieve in every session:
"Her DISC session was one of the highlights of our conference."
What stood out most about this engagement was the emphasis on practical application. DiSC provides a common language for understanding different work styles, but its real value comes when participants can connect those insights to everyday workplace interactions.
The client noted that participants left with:
"A better understanding of their own communication styles and valuable tools for working more effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients."
For me, that's where learning creates lasting impact. When participants leave with insights they can use immediately, the conversation continues long after the session ends.
The positive feedback from attendees was supported by post-session survey data, which helped demonstrate the value of the learning experience and the impact it had on participants.
If you'd like to learn more about the outcomes of this engagement, including participant feedback and survey results, I invite you to read the full case study.
